Funny how the most mundane thing will send thoughts rolling backwards in memory, or how one thing can lead to another until you’re on a path completely opposite of where you thought you’d end up. I guess thats the way of the world, but I dont think anything can be more to the point about it than remembering Time. Or a time when Time became a feature of a classic 80s movie.

But even here I digress. What I came on here to say was that 1) Im starting a blog based on the 80s and 2) I wanted to buy a watch.

More specifically, a Swatch watch.

Now, nothing says time has passed so swiftly and surely as to go onto an international auction site and find that the very same fashion items that caused untold amounts of jealousy and pride back in the day are now cheaper than a watch bought at Target or JC Pennies. Of course, those of you who remember the heyday of Swatch passion in the 80s know that to be in REAL fashionable cahoots with the elite in New York or Europe, one wore at least TWO Swatches on their wrist. And the more, the better for your kudos as the It Person. The funkier, the better; the most difficult to read, the more impressive your skill in tossing off the time.

And somehow, I ended up finding this YouTube flashback of a Swatch commercial.

So what better way to launch off a blog recalling a time machine than with…a time piece.

I still want a Swatch. Just kind of ironic that now, in a time of my life when I am probably about as unfashionable as I can get, I have the capital to get several of those babies.
